The New Holland Honeyeaters outnumbered the Tawny-crowned by 10 to 1 and they drove off the Tawny’s on sight. I and I had to wait a long time for a Tawny to sneak in for a quick feed before being detected.

A Helmeted Friarbird looks up from feeding on grevillea nectar
I caught this old lady soon after she left her nest to feed. She is sitting in a deciduous tree in mid-Autamn, and the blurred leaves give the image a very colorful background. As the sun had not yet fully risen when I took this photograph, I used a low flash. I used a Canon EOS 50D, F-6.3, ISO: 400 with Sigma 150-600 zoom-lens.
