Several pair of these gorgeous little birds have laid claim to different parts of our garden.
Early morning on Lake Argyle, WA. July, 2019. Egret was warming itself in the sun. Nikon D3400 and Nikon 200-500mm ED VR….1/1600sec, ISO 200, f5.6.
A little Friarbird feeding on the wild grevillea bush. Camera EOS60D, Tamron 200-500, FL 500mm, ISO 1250, 1/800 sec at f/11
Silvereye (Zosterops lateralis) feasting on a fig tree fruit. While birds were pretty scarce that morning, a large flock of Silvereye (> 100) seemed to follow me around the site. Anstead Bushland Reserve, Anstead, Queensland, Australia. Nikon D500 + Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6 1/500sec f/7.1 ISO 1000 @ 750 mm (effective FL)
Male Variegated Fairywren (Malurus lamberti). There was a group of four males in this location, with only one female sighted – unusual as it’s normally the other way around. They led me on a merry chase around the bush, I was only able to get this one usable shot for my efforts but it was still wonderful to see these bright fellows gleaming in the sunlight. Anstead Bushland Reserve, Anstead, Queensland, Australia. Nikon D500 + Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6 1/800sec f/7.1 ISO 2000 @ 750 mm (effective FL)
Crested Pigeon. These beautiful pigeons have iridescent wing panels, and the wings make a distinct whistling sound when they take off. I read that they were originally inland-dwellers, but have successfully colonised major cities and are now very common in suburbia. Cressbrook, Queensland, Australia.
It was mid morning and you should hear the channel-bills in the berry tree. I waited until the sunlight hit its eyes and took the shot. Sony A7ii with a Sigma 150-500mm 1/800s, ISO320, F6.3
