Great Egret
A tall, startlingly-white, elegant bird seen wading about the edges and shallows of wetlands. It stalks along slowly and carefully, hunting fish, frogs and lizards in the grass. In the air it is slow flying and calls with a rasping guttural croak.

Great Egret
I took this photograph whilst canoeing on the Wyaralong Dam near Boonah, Qld. This Great Egret looked stunning against the green Lillies leaves.

Hunting for fish

I was kayaking on Lake Tinaroo when I came upon this Great Egret perched on an old dead tree, nicely side-lit by the rising sun.
