Pale-headed Rosella

A quiet, and unobtrusive parrot that is often seen feeding on roadside seeding plants.  Present in pairs and small flocks, it has a gentle call.  While it prefers more open country, this rosella will also visit suburban gardens.  In its flight and movements along branches, it is slow and discreet.

This Pale Headed Rosella was in the tree by my back door. Grabbed my camera and took a few shots.

From a distance- I thought I had spotted a star picket cap! I was surprised to see a Pale Headed in the open and so bold as to let me get as close as I did with not even a tree to hide behind! Taken with a Canon 5D Mark 3, 100-400mm and 1.4 ext. f/8.0 1/1250 sec, ISO-1250 Hand Held.
