A male Superb Fairywren (Malurus cyaneus) not in his breeding colors. One cool little fellow, he moved along the outside vegetation hunting for insects, all the time keeping a close eye on me and in constant contact with his partner through beautiful song. Greenwood Lakes, Forestdale, Queensland, Australia. NIKON D500 + Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6 1/640 @ f/7.1 ISO 900 @ 750 mm (effective FL)

Male Superb Fairywren (Malurus cyaneus) calling. This little fellow constantly called to his partner as they searched for insects along the scrubline next to the lake. I followed them along for about 30 minutes, he came quite close many times and was very calm with my presence. It was wonderful to hear so much of their beautiful song. Greenwood Lakes, Forestdale, Queensland, Australia. NIKON D500 + Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6 1/640 @ f/7.1 ISO 500 @ 675 mm (effective FL)

A beautiful little bird in Tasmania. Very hard to capture as they are constantly on the move, hopping and flitting about. This one was shot at Port Huon Tas. There were quite a reasonable number there so I sat still at a table and hoped they would think I was part of the furniture.
